GMC rates the 2027 Acadia to tow 5,000 pounds, and that figure is the same on the Elevation, AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate, in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Trailering Package is standard on all of them, as is heavy-duty cooling.

GMC’s own guidance is worth repeating: maximum trailering ratings are intended for comparison purposes only, and before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering you should carefully review the trailering section of the Owner’s Manual. The weight of passengers, cargo, options and accessories reduces how much you can tow.

Every Acadia comes with the trailering technology that makes hooking up straightforward. Hitch Guidance lines the ball up with the coupler using an on-screen guide, and Hitch View gives a close-up camera angle of the hitch itself, both standard on all four trims alongside HD Surround Vision and a rear camera washer.

A Tow/Haul mode sits in the Traction Select system on every trim, holding gears longer and sharpening throttle response with a trailer attached. On the AT4, the same system adds an exclusive Terrain Mode and Hill Descent Control for the times the boat ramp is steeper than expected.

Acadia Trims and Configurations

Cargo volume is identical across every trim and drivetrain, and it is generous at each stage. Behind the third row with all seats up you have 23.0 cubic feet, which is a genuine grocery run with all three rows occupied. Fold the third row and that becomes 57.3 cubic feet, and folding the second row as well opens the maximum of 97.5 cubic feet behind the first row.

How easily you get there depends on the trim: the Denali and Denali Ultimate add a power-folding third row and one-touch second-row folding, so the space opens at the press of a button. A cargo package with a shelf, dividers, a retractable shade and a vertical cargo net is available on every trim.
